The whimsical paintings of artist Kelly Bjork focuses on portraiture and the intimacy forged between loved ones and objects. She chooses her subjects for their simplicity and charm, bringing out something special in often overlooked elements. “With our current socio-political climate, I think it is important to recognise these often unnoticed moments in our daily lives, and to remember that they exist,” she says. Exuding positivity and cheer, Bjork wants her work to be a reminder of what is good in our world.
Bjork will be presenting her latest work in a solo exhibition at New York’s Nancy Margolis Gallery from September 12 to October 26, 2019. Visit her website and Instagram for more.
