German photographer Ralph Graef captures the quiet ambiance of the city of Brandenburg in his series, Brandenburg Countryside. Located in Northeast Germany, Brandenburg has often been upstaged by nearby Berlin, overlooked because of its rural character. But in the recent years there has been a wind of change, with more businesses being drawn to the countryside, Brandenburg included. Graf’s series, then, is an attempt to document the transforming landscape. “I’m trying to capture the current state of transformation and to conserve images from the places that are about to disappear,” he says.
