Since October, in Phoenix, Arizona, a restaurant of the famous Pizza Hut brand has been packing its pizzas in compostable boxes. Exit the traditional square cardboard box, the packaging has been completely redesigned by Zume, a start-up specialized in sustainable food solutions, and now has a round shape to better match its container and thus better conserve heat. According to the fast-food chain, this packaging is industrially compostable because it was made from vegetable fibers. It remains to be seen whether this first test phase will be followed by an extension of the use of these boxes in other restaurants.
