Vicki Ling is a visual artist and illustrator currently based in Chicago, USA. In her series “Hanging By a String”, the artist presents moments of fragility and instability.

By capturing the moment before the catastrophe, she then highlights the instability of life. A red string is wrapped around her compositions, removing it makes everything fall apart. This string represents the tension of daily life.

“We can see that today’s society has reached a high level of economic and technological development, but at the same time we are struggling to keep up with the increasingly rapid pace and materialistic nature of life,”
says Ling.
