College (composer of the original soundtrack of Drive) releases his new album, Shanghai, produced by Invada Records. As a foretaste, he presents this strong but delicate title, Love Peas. Shanghai is the theater of this mysterious story, where everything is softly suggested, as a poetic vision, in a warm and airy atmosphere.
For this new film, David Grellier (aka College), worked again with the talented Charles Lanceplaine, who collaborated on the album Heritage. Musically, Shanghai is inspired by musicians like Mark Snow, Angelo Badalamenti, Joe Hisaishi et Aphex Twin.
It is impossible to determine at which age this hypnotic tale takes place. Maybe in the 1920s? Maybe later? The viewer is the king. Chinese singer Hama, native of Shanghai, makes us discover the city in an onirique trip. College lets us imagine everything about these silent characters, wisely saying “the keys of this new adventure is in your hands.”
