Formatte studied the story and evolution of opening titles in movies, though their documentary The Film Before The Film. The apparition of the title and the credits at the beginning of a movie are born at the same time as the first movies in cinema and are more various than we think. This documentary retraces the changes that have known these opening sequences and the evolution of titles design, through time : from the first titles cards to the inclusion of digital techniques.
